Description
Why add this 1993-P Proof Silver Eagle to your collection?
1993 was the first year that Proof Silver Eagle coins were minted in Philadelphia and carry the “P” Mint mark. Final reported mintage for the Proof version is 405,913, which is one of lower Silver Eagle Proof mintages. The coin has a face value of $1 dollar, is struck from 1 full Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, and measures 40.6mm in diameter. The low mintage, combined with the grade of Proof 70 Ultra Cameo, make this coin one of the scarcest regular proof coins to be found.
A beautiful classic coin design.
The obverse design pays homage to the “Walking Liberty” Half Dollar coin designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, and remains one of the most beloved designs of any United States coinage. The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, portrays a heraldic eagle with a shield; an olive branch is grasped in its right talon and arrows in its left talon. Above the eagle are thirteen stars to represent the original Colonies. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
What makes Ultra Cameo so distinctive?
This flawless 1993-P American Silver Eagle Proof is graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), a highly respected coin authentication company. Proof blanks are specially treated to produce a mirror-like background. The Ultra Cameo (UC) designation refers to the remarkable contrast of finished surfaces struck onto the coin.
