A classic Kennedy half dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel and Lincoln Cent are included in the set, along with a Native American $1 coin. The 2024 dollar coin is dedicated to the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924. An eagle staff and an American flag are depicted on the coin, as a symbol for the dual citizenship of Native Americans.
The five American Women Quarters in the set celebrate the lives and influence of Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray (a poet, writer, activist, lawyer and Episcopal priest who advocated for social justice), Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink (a Congresswoman who fought for affordable childcare and equal opportunities in education), Dr. Mary Edwards Walker (the first female civilian surgeon of the U.S. Army and the only woman to date to be awarded the Medal of Honor), Celia Cruz (an award-winning Cuban-American singer and cultural icon known as the “Queen of Salsa”), and Zitkala-Ša, also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin (a writer, composer and staunch political activist for Native American rights, which led to the passage of the 1924 Indian Citizenship Act). The obverse of each quarter features the rendition of George Washington that was originally recommended for the launch of the 1932 Washington Quarter by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. As a continuation of the tribute to American Women theme, the portrait is the work of renowned early 20th century female sculptor Laura Gardin Fraser.
