Description
As tradition allows, the 1992 Proof Set featured five coins that shared a design with coins that were in circulation at the time: the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter and the Kennedy Half Dollar. With this particular set, the Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter and the Kennedy Half Dollar are all made with 90% silver.
All coins in this set were stuck at the San Francisco Mint and feature a “S” mint mark for that reason. They are also minted with specially treated coining dies that make the design appear to pop out of the coin in a way typical mint state coins do not. They have mirror-shiny backgrounds (fields) and nice, frosty features.
The coins were packaged in a black box where each coin could be seen on display in their own holes. The packaging is inscribed with, “United States Mint Proof Set,” in silver.
