Striking Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s iconic Silver Eagle design retains its place on the obverse. Liberty carries laurel and oak branches, symbols of civilian and military honors, respectively, while draped in an American flag as the morning sun begins to rise. Her name, “LIBERTY,” arches over the image, while the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2024,” are also inscribed on this face. Adolph Weinman was a German-born immigrant who specialized in architectural sculpture. His artist initials, “AW,” also appear on this face of the coin.
Reverse: Gracing the reverse is Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing design. The bird spreads its wings while clutching an oak branch. The issuing country’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and the coin’s silver content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” are inscribed along the rim. Just inside those inscriptions is the statutory motto, “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Emily Damstra earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in science illustration from the University of Michigan. She is a medalist, coin designer, and science illustrator.
