Stunning Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse features Adolph Weinman’s patriotic Walking Liberty design. Liberty is draped in the American flag as she strides confidently in the early morning sun with laurel and oak branches in her arms. Her name, “LIBERTY,” joins the date, “2022,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States. He played a major role in the early 20th century American numismatic renaissance.
Reverse: The reverse design was created by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. The design features an eagle preparing to land with an oak branch in its talons. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its weight, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Emily Damstra graduated from the University of Michigan with an MFA. She has contributed to numerous coins since 2017.
