Why Add This MS70 First Releases 2020-D Basketball Hall of Fame Dome Shaped Commemorative Half Dollar to Your Collection?
While the U.S. Mint has struck a number of impressive modern commemoratives in recent years, some of the most popular issues have been their dome shaped coins. This 2020-D Basketball Hall of Fame clad half dollar is also dome-shaped. It has an uncirculated finish and it was issued to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Mintage of these half dollars is limited.
Convex Basketball Reverse
The obverse design features three basketball players. They’re all reaching for the ball as it travels through the air. The background behind the players is filled with the inside of the net from a basketball hoop. The “D” mint mark is just above the date.
Since this coin has a dome shape, the reverse happens to be the convex side. This is a great fit because the design here provides a closeup view of a basketball on its way into the hoop.
NGC MS70 First Releases
When this dome shaped commemorative half dollar was submitted to the third-party experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), it was assigned the grade of Mint State 70 and the First Releases designation. These indicate this coin is flawless, even when viewed with magnification, and it was submitted during its first 30 days of issue.
