Striking Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is Adolph Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design. As the early morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon, an American flag-draped Liberty carries laurel and oak branches. Her name, “LIBERTY,” arches over the image, while the date, “2024,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” are also included on this face. Adolph Weinman was a prolific sculptor who immigrated to the United States from Germany. He is best known for designing the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Weinman’s initials, “AW,” also appear on the obverse.
Reverse: An eagle swoops down with its wings spread and an oak branch in its talons in Emily Damstra’s reverse design. On the rim are inscriptions of the issuing country’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is included inside those inscriptions. Emily Damstra holds an MFA from the University of Michigan. She has designed numerous American and Canadian coins.
