Featuring the Patriotic Landing Eagle Design of Emily Damstra
Obverse: On the obverse is Adolph Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design. The early morning sun begins to emerge as Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Inscribed on this face are the central figure’s name, “LIBERTY,” the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2022.” Adolph Weinman was German-born and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. He became a prominent sculptor and played a major role in America’s early 20th century numismatic renaissance.
Reverse: Emily Damstra’s reverse design shows a detailed look at a bald eagle as it prepares to land carrying an oak branch. Rim inscriptions provide the issuing country’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Inside the rim inscriptions is the statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Emily Damstra graduated from the University of Michigan with an M.F.A. She made her numismatic debut in 2017.
