Description

Why purchase this American 2021 Silver Eagle?

The American Silver Eagle is the world’s favorite silver bullion series. Since its debut in 1986, it has featured the same obverse and reverse designs. The reverse design will change for the first time on bullion Silver Eagles in mid-2021. The first 2021 Brilliant Uncirculated American Silver Eagles will feature Mercanti’s original reverse design, allowing collectors one last chance to own a bullion piece with the original reverse design. The bullion Silver Eagle reverse design will change at some point over the course of 2021.

  • The American Silver Eagle is the world’s most collected bullion coin.

Featuring the Treasured Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman

Obverse: The obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty half dollar. Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag as the morning sun rises to the left. Obverse inscriptions note the figure’s name, “LIBERTY,” and also include the date, “2020,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Adolph Weinman was an invaluable contributor to America’s early 20th century numismatic renaissance. His best known works were the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime.

Reverse: On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States that was created by John Mercanti. At the top are thirteen stars, which are arranged in a triangular formation. Below, an eagle protects a union shield. Rim inscriptions provide essential information about the coin, including its country of issue, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” its weight, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and its face value, “ONE DOLLAR.” John Mercanti spent nearly four decades with the U.S. Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver. During that time, he created more coin and medal designs than anyone else in the institution’s history.

Virtually Flawless MS69 FDI with Flag Label

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) provided this coin’s grading information on a label that features the American flag. The information includes the company’s second highest grade, Mint State 69, which indicates that a coin appears perfect to the unaided eye. PCGS also certified this piece First Day of Issue, which means that it was submitted through an exclusive process.
