1916 Walking Liberty Revival
Obverse: Lady Liberty confidently walks towards the sunrise wrapped in an American flag on the obverse, while carrying a bundle of long oak and laurel branches. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “2021” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” This personification of Liberty was initially created for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar created by Adolph A. Weinman, a well-known American sculptor of the early 20th century.
Reverse: A heraldic eagle adapted from the Great Seal of the U.S. adorns the reverse. The design by John Mercanti includes the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Mr. Mercanti served as the Mint’s Chief Engraver from 2006-2010.
