Featruing the Historic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The obverse features Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, which comes from the Walking Liberty half dollar. The early morning sun shines on Liberty, who is draped in the American flag as she carries branches of laurel and oak. Her name, “LIBERTY,” joins the date, “2024,” artist initials, “AW,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman was a sculptor who immigrated to the United States from Germany.
Reverse: On the reverse is Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing design. The national bird glides downward on its wings with an oak branch in its talons. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER” are inscribed along the rim, while within those inscriptions is the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Emily Damstra has an MFA from the University of Michigan. She has designed dozens of American and Canadian coins.
