Featuring Adolph Weinman’s Patriotic Walking Liberty Design
Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s obverse design, the Walking Liberty, comes from his half dollar. The morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon as an American flag-draped Liberty carries laurel and oak branches. The obverse inscriptions note her name, “LIBERTY,” the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” artist initials, “AW,” and the date, “2023.” Adolph Weinman was an immigrant from Germany. A prolific sculptor, he is best known for designing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: The reverse features Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing design. Inscriptions along the rim provide the issuing country’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the face value of the coin, “ONE DOLLAR,” and the coin’s metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” The statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is included inside the rim inscriptions. Emily Damstra has an MFA from the University of Michigan. She specializes in science illustration and works for a variety of clients.
Impeccable PF70 UC with Brown Label
Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) provided the grading information for this proof on a brown label. NGC graded the coin Proof 70 (PF 70) and certified it Ultra Cameo (UC). The PF70 grade is only given to coins that appear perfect under 5x magnification, while the UC designation credits the coin for having deeply mirrored fields that contrast sharply with heavily frosted devices.
