This gorgeous silver bullion round issued by the Intaglio Mint is inspired by the legend of Bellerophon in Greek mythology. Bellerophon captured the winged steed Pegasus with the use of the goddess Athena’s bridle, then proceeded to slay the Chimera. The Chimera was a feared fantastical creature comprised of the parts of a lion, a goat and a serpent, with the capability of breathing fire. The warrior defeated the creature with a block of lead delivered by spear to its throat. The Chimera melted the lead with its own flaming breath and perished by suffocation.

Astoundingly Detailed Designs
Obverse: The obverse depicts the battle between Bellerphon and the lion and goat headed Chimera. The warrior is illustrated on the back of the Pegasus, wearing a wind-whipped cape, as he prepares to render the final blow to the Chimera with a long spear.
Reverse: A curving radial burst pattern appears on the reverse, serving as the frame around the Intaglio Mint’s distinctive global map and stylized ionic column logo at the center. The attractive design is encircled by a border finished with a finely stippled texture, which is adorned with the inscriptions “TWO TROY OUNCES” and “.999 FINE SILVER,” along with the 2022 date of issue represented in Roman numerals as “MMXXII.”
