In 2019, the silver purity was increased to .999 fine, which has remained standard for all subsequent issues of the annual set. This 2018-S Silver Proof Set represents the final release with the original purity.

This set is comprised of a Kennedy half dollar, a Roosevelt dime, and the five America the Beautiful series quarters issued in 2018, which commemorate Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (Michigan), Apostle Islands National Lakeshore (Wisconsin), Voyageurs National Park (Minnesota), Cumberland Island National Seashore (Georgia) and Block Island National Wildlife Refuge (Rhode Island), each struck from .900 fine silver. The remaining three coins in the set are a Jefferson nickel, a Lincoln penny and the single year of issue Native American dollar coin honoring the contributions to American sports and culture by athlete and Olympic gold medalist Jim Thorpe.
