This 2013-S US Mint Clad Proof Coin Set includes all of the coins minted for general circulation in the United States that year. Designs of this 2013-S US Mint Clad Proof Coin Set
The first case in this 2013-S US Mint Clad Proof Coin Set features one coin of each denomination that was minted in 2013. One of these coins is the Roosevelt dime. The President faces squarely to the left on the coin. Around this effigy are various inscriptions such as “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The year of mintage and denomination can also be observed. On the reverse is the inscriptions “ONE DIME” as well as an image of a torch, with an olive and oak branch, for peace and strength.
The design of the Jefferson nickel is unique in that the portrait does not appear at the center of the obverse; instead, it dominates the left side of it. “LIBERTY” is inscribed in cursive by his portrait. On the reverse is an image of Monticello, Jefferson’s Virginia plantation in which he took tremendous pride, spans nearly the full diameter of the reverse. “MONTICELLO,” is inscribed horizontally beneath it, along with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” “FIVE CENTS” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are inscribed at the top.
Following the clockwise progression on the casing, the Sacagawea dollar is in the lower right. The Highly unique obverse of this coin is an image of the famous Indian guide, holding her infant son. “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “LIBERTY” are seen inscribed on this side of the coin. The reverse of the coin is a design that commemorates the country’s first written treaty between America and an Indian tribe. As inscribed at the bottom, that was the “TREATY WITH THE DELAWARES.” Three animals that symbolize the tribe make up the main image – a turkey, a wolf, and a turtle. “$1,” as well as the year of mintage are seen inscribed on reverse.
Also in this box is the Kennedy half dollar. This coin shows an image of President Kennedy facing to the left. “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are inscribed on the coin. The reverse of the coin is a splendid image of a heraldic Eagle, along with surrounding inscriptions such “HALF DOLLAR.”
In the center of this group is the Lincoln cent, also known as the Lincoln penny. America’s sixteenth and arguably most beloved president, Abraham Lincoln, faces the right side of the obverse. Behind him is the word “LIBERTY,” while the national motto is inscribed over his head. The reverse features a simple design, a shield that bears the motto from the Great Seal. A scroll across the shield bears the coin’s face value, “ONE CENT.”
Another section of the set features the five America the Beautiful quarters that were released in 2013. All five quarters feature the same design on the obverse. President Washington’s left profile is shown, as he faces to the left of the coin. Inscribed around this design is “UNITED STATES OF AMERIC,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the Mint mark, “S.”
The reverse of these 5 quarters are all based on National Parks or monuments in the US. The designs are intricate engravings of the following: White Mountain National Forest, Perry’s Victory and international peace Memorial, Great Basin National Park, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, and Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The reverse designs have a small border inscribed with the title of the location and the year of mintage.
The last group of the set features four presidential dollars. All of the dollars in the set have the same design on the reverse. Lady Liberty emerges from the lower right of the coin. The inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” appears on the obverse as well.
On the display, the first president among those listed occupies the spot to the upper left. That is “WILLIAM MCKINLEY,” whose name is inscribed at the top. The national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is inscribed at the lower right. His place in the order of the presidency,” 25TH PRESIDENT,” is inscribed at the bottom, followed by his years in office, “1897-1901.”
Unlike most of the other presidential dollars, the next one in the set, which is to the right of McKinley’s, features the president facing to the left of the coin, though his shoulders are oriented at an angle rather than square to the left. His name, “THEODORE ROOSEVELT,” is inscribed along the rim at the top. He is identified with the inscription “26TH PRESIDENT” at the bottom, where his years in office, “1901-1909,” are also included.
“WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT,” is inscribed over his portrait on the next dollar, which is on the lower right of the display. The national motto is included on the rim at the lower left, followed by Taft’s place in presidential succession and years in office, “27TH PRESIDENT 1909-1913,” which run up the right side.
The final coin in this group and in this set bears the image and name of America’s President during World War I, “WOODROW WILSON.” The nation’s motto appears to the lower left while Wilson’s status as America’s “28TH PRESIDENT,” and his terms in office, “1913-1921,” arch along the rim from the bottom to the right.
