The largest of the three biggest annual festivals held in China, the Chinese New Year Festival dates back to ancient times. Held over a 15-day period, it marks the end of winter and the beginning of Spring, and is a time for families and friends to come together for several nights of reunions, food, gifts and celebration.

That initial release, with its handsome designs tying into the Chinese New Year, whetted the appetites of collectors around the world who anticipated, then quickly snatched up, the second-year New Year Celebration Pandas last year.’
In 2022, the New Year Celebration Panda is back, sporting a brand-new one-year-only reverse that combines three of China’s most revered symbols – the Panda bear, a Dragon Dancer and the Fu image – into a special collectible issued for this important holiday. The obverse displays the Temple of Heaven in exquisite detail.
Both the all-new reverse and Temple of Heaven obverse come struck in stunning Ultra-High Relief. The reverse has been given a concave (bowl-shaped) surface to help accent the amazing design and relief.

The mintages of each of the New Year Celebration Panda Proofs you have here are extremely small when compared to comparably-sized Proof releases in the China Mint’s annual silver and gold Panda series.
