Obverse: The obverse is adorned with a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III in a left facing pose. The inscriptions “CHARLES III,” “D.G. REX F.D.,” “ST. HELENA,” “1 POUND” and “2023” encircle the effigy. This interpretation of Great Britain’s newly ascended monarch was created by renowned British artist Glyn Davies.
Reverse: On the reverse, Lady Liberty is depicted beside a stylized globe that bears a U.S. flag, shaped as the land mass of the nation. Ms. Liberty holds a torch of enlightenment aloft while an eagle gloriously soars in the foreground. Inscriptions include “TRADE DOLLAR” and the East India Company’s “EIC” Mint mark.
