In celebration of the momentous design transition from the original heraldic eagle (Type-1) to the eagle landing (Type-2), the Mint issued this exciting limited mintage Silver Eagle set featuring both design types struck with a breathtaking reverse proof finish.

- The final year of issue Type-1 style coin was struck at the West Point Mint, with a “W” Mint mark.

Gorgeous Silver Eagle Imagery
Obverse: The obverse of both Silver Eagle types features a rendition of Lady Liberty walking towards the rising sun while elegantly draped in an American flag. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “2021.” This timeless rendition of Liberty is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. The Type-2 style includes credit to the designer as a monogram of the artist’s “AW” initials.
Type-1 Reverse (1986 until mid-2021): The reverse is adorned with a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and bundle of arrows. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the West Point Mint mark “W.” The design is an example of the work of John Mercanti, the U.S. Mint’s 12th Chief Engraver.
Type-2 Reverse (introduced July 2021): An eagle is gloriously illustrated on the reverse with its wings uplifted in preparation for landing. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR” and the San Francisco Mint mark “S.” The eagle landing image was crafted by U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Emily Damstra.
