Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design retains its place on the obverse. As the early morning sun begins to rise, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Her name, “LIBERTY,” joins the date, “2023,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman was a prolific sculptor who immigrated to the United States from Germany. His work continues to be displayed in New York, Washington, and other cities. Weinman’s artist initials, AW,” also appear on the obverse.
Reverse: Emily Damstra’s reverse design depicts an eagle with an oak branch in its talons preparing to land. Along the rim are inscriptions of the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the face value of the coin, “ONE DOLLAR,” and the coin’s metal content, “1 OZ.
