Obverse: A time-honored personification of Liberty adorns the obverse. Lady Liberty is depicted walking toward the rising sun with an American flag draped around her form. She carries a bouquet of long oak and laurel branches, emblematic of strength, honor, and victory. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “2023,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the artist’s monogram “AW.” This powerful image, designed by renowned medallic sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, first appeared on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: The reverse features an eagle with its wings gloriously uplifted to slow its descent, with a branch of oak in its grasp. The wildlife image is surrounded by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “S,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The Type-2 eagle landing graphic was created by Emily Damstra, a U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program member since 2014.
