Stunning America the Beautiful Designs
Sacagawea Dollar: The Sacagawea Dollar’s obverse is the same one that has appeared on the coin since its inception. It features Sacagawea holding her son, Jean-Baptiste, on her back. The reverse design shows Mary Golda Ross writing calculations, perhaps for the NASA Planetary Flight Handbook Vol. III.
America the Beautiful Quarters: Like all America the Beautiful Quarters, these bear John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of President George Washington on the obverse. The reverse designs bear images from Lowell National Historic Park in Massachusetts, American Memorial Park in the Northern Mariana Islands, War in the Pacific National Historic Park in Guam, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in Texas, and Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho. The Massachusetts coin features a workers’ rights theme, while the Guam and Northern Mariana Islands coin honor those who fought in World War II.
