Description
Why add this 1 oz. Silver Buffalo round to your collection?
This handsome bullion round, which is not legal tender, was struck by a private mint from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a diameter measurement of 39 mm. Design of the round is borrowed from one of the most cherished U.S. coins, inspired by the Indian Head/Buffalo Nickel created by acclaimed sculptor James Earle Fraser in 1913.
Design Based on the Iconic 1913 Buffalo Nickel
The reverse features an American Buffalo, an image Fraser reportedly modeled after a creature that lived in New York’s Central Park Zoo in the early 20th century. The buffalo is posed standing upon a mound of dirt with the inscription “.999 FINE SILVER” below. The additional inscription, “ONE TROY OUNCE,” curves above.
Centered on the obverse is a lifelike, right-facing rendition of a Native American chief, with his hair gathered into a traditional braided style and adorned with feathers. “LIBERTY” is also inscribed on this face of the round.
NOTE: Reverse design may vary.
