The U.S. Mint has issued a number of special sets of American Silver Eagle coins for collectors.  These sets are usually issued to mark special anniversaries of the Silver Eagle coin program that began in 1986, or anniversaries of a branch of the U.S. Mint.  They are very popular with collectors of Silver Eagles because of their extremely limited mintages and because they often include special versions of these coins that are only available in the set. They are issued in special display cases for the coins.

Some of the notable Silver Eagle sets that have been released over the years include:

  1. The 1995 10th Anniversary five-coin set, which includes the key to the Silver Eagle series, the 1995-W proof coin, which is the lowest mintage coin in the set.
  2. The 2006 20th Anniversary three-coin set, which included the first reverse proof Silver Eagle
  3. The 2011 25th Anniversary five-coin set, which included first and only uncirculated Silver Eagle struck at the San Francisco Mint
  4. The 2012 75th Anniversary of the San Francisco Mint set, which included the first reverse proof Silver Eagle struck at the San Francisco Mint
  5. The 2013 75th anniversary of the West Point Mint set, which included the first enhanced uncirculated Silver Eagle that uses laser frosting to highlight different parts of the coin’s design.

Silver Eagle sets are widely collected in both original government packaging and in examples that have been certified by NGC and PCGS. Some of these coins are hard to find in the top grade of 70. ModernCoinMart always secures a supply of these special sets when they are released and is your best source for both recent and past silver sets and individual coins from those sets.
