Now in 2023, the New Year Celebration Panda is back, with a brand new, one-year-only spectacular reverse that combines three of China’s most revered symbols—the Panda bear, a Dragon Dancer and the Fu image—on a special collectible issued for this important holiday. Each year, the Fu symbol on a table is prevalent during the celebration (typically hung on doors or walls) and symbolizes peace and prosperity in the New Year, the dragon dancer is often seen as part of Chinese New Year festivities, and the mature Panda is reminiscent of the first China Panda coin issued in 1982. The obverse displays the Temple of Heaven, in exquisite detail.

Ultra-High Relief Makes These Stand OutBoth sides of these Proofs were struck in Ultra High Relief, so all of the rich detail from each image seems to jump off the surface. The Panda/Dragon side also features a unique concave (bowl-shaped) surface that further enhances and accentuates the Ultra-High Relief details.
