Exquisite Una and Redcrosse Design
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The deceased queen, who was the longest serving monarch in British history, dons her Royal Diamond Diadem, as well as earrings and a necklace. Her name and abbreviated title, “ELIZABTEH II D G REG F D,” are inscribed along the rim, as are the name of the issuing territory, “ST. HELENA,” the date, “2023,” and the face value, “1 POUND.” Jody Clark is a British coin designer who formerly worked with The Royal Mint. He is known for his portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and the designs for the Queen’s Beasts Series.
Reverse: On the reverse, Una asks Redcrosse, who is on his horse, to rescue her parents from a dragon and save their kingdom. A castle stands in the background. Along the rim is the inscription “THE FAERIE QUEENE.”
