Inscriptions include “SOMALI REPUBLIC” and “1000 SHILLINGS.” The issue date is divided, appearing as two digits on each side of the arms.
Reverse: The reverse is adorned with a stunning wilderness scene which features the distinctive foliage and terrain of the African continent, with an elephant or leopard as the primary design element. The inscription “AFRICAN WILDLIFE” curves above the picturesque scene, with “ELEPHANT” or “LEOPARD” and “1 OZ AU 999.9” sweeping below.
