Description

Why add this 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS63 to your collection?

This 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is a beautiful example of one of the most beloved coins in the history of American numismatics. Its MS63 grade from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) indicates that it is an attractive coin, though it may have some contact marks, with a few of them potentially being major. This coin comes from the sixth year of issue of the Morgan Silver Dollar. George T. Morgan, the designer for whom the coin is named, used an American model, Anna Willess Williams, to create his image of Liberty, thus marking a stark departure from previous depictions of the character, which were Greek style. Liberty is identified by the ribbon atop her head that bears her name. She is also wearing a Phrygian cap. An eagle is on the reverse grasping arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolic of America’s preference for peace and willingness to fight for her values. The bird’s wings almost touch the rim in the upper left and upper right, and a laurel wreath, a symbol of civilian honors, mostly encircles it. The “CC” under the bottom of the wreath is the Carson City Mint mark. For a beautiful version of America’s ever popular coin, add this piece to your collection today!
