Description
Why order this Random Date-O Barber Half Dollar, Quarter & Dime?
For a brief period at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, Charles Barber’s designs dominated American coinage like no other single designer’s artwork has. Three of the coins that he designed were the dime, the quarter, and the half dollar. Each one is represented in this set, which gives the holder the opportunity to appreciate this historic period. The dates of the coins in the set may vary, but all pieces were struck at the New Orleans Mint and bear that mint’s “O” mint mark.
Classic Liberty Design by Charles E. Barber
All three coins feature Barber’s right-facing Liberty design on the obverse. The figure’s hair is tied up under a Phrygian cap, which symbolizes her freedom. She also wears a laurel wreath, which represents civilian honors, and a diadem that bears an inscription of her name, “LIBERTY.” All three coins have the date on the rim. The two larger ones also have thirteen stars and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” while the dime has the rim inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
The coins also differ on the reverse. The larger ones feature an eagle guarding a union shield under thirteen stars. Rim inscriptions provide each coin’s country and face value. On the dime, the face value, “ONE DIME,” is inscribed in large letters at the center and is encircled by a wreath.
Good to Very Good Condition
All coins in the set remain in Good to Very Good condition. They come in a single holder that holds all three pieces.
