Iconic Autogyro Design
Obverse: King Charles III features on the obverse. He is shown by Martin Jennings in left-side profile, following the tradition of facing the opposite direction of his predecessor. Along the rim are inscriptions of his name and abbreviated Latin title, “CHARLES III D G REX F D,” and the coin’s face value, “2 POUNDS.” Martin Jennings is a sculptor who specializes in working with bronze and stone in the figurative tradition.
Reverse: On the reverse, James Bond flies an autogyro (gyroplane) above the 007 logo. This scene was featured in the movie You Only Live Twice. Along the rim is a repeating set of inscriptions, which read, “BOND OF THE 60S,” “FINE SILVER 1 OZ 999,” and “2024.”
