Featuring a Stunning Royal Arms Design by Timothy Noad
Obverse: The obverse features a portrait of Britain’s new monarch, Charles III. Portrayed by Martin Jennings, he faces left and is shown without a crown. His name and abbreviated title, “CHARLES III D G REX F D,” are inscribed along the rim, as is the face value of the coin, “2 POUNDS.” Martin Jennings is a prolific sculptor who has created renderings of some of Britain’s most famous people. Among them are John Betjeman, George Orwell, and Charles Dickens.
Reverse: Gracing the reverse is a take on The Royal Arms by Timothy Noad. A unicorn and a lion flank a shield that bears symbols of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Inscriptions on this face include the coin’s date, “2023,” and its weight and purity, “1 OZ FINE SILVER 999.” Timothy Noad is one of Britain’s most talented heraldic artists. He also works professionally as a calligrapher and an illuminator.
