Striking Royal Arms Design by Timothy Noad
Obverse: Gracing the Obverse is a portrait of King Charles III that was designed by Martin Jennings. Notably, Charles is shown without a crown. His name and abbreviated title, “CHARLES III D G REX F D,” join an inscription of the coin’s face value, “100 POUNDS,” on the rim. Martin Jennings is a sculptor and portraitist who has depicted such figures as Charles Dickens and George Orwell.
Reverse: The reverse features a Royal Arms design by Timothy Noad. The design features a shield, which is flanked by a lion and a unicorn, that bears symbols of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. The coin’s date, “2023,” is noted above, while its weight and purity, “1 OZ FINE GOLD 999.9,” are provided at the bottom of this face. Timothy Noad graduated from the Reigate School of Art in 1986 and has worked for HM College of Arms as Herald Painter and Scievener.
