Magnificently Detailed Royal Portraits
Obverse: The obverse features the newly designed portrait of His Majesty King Charles III in a left facing pose. The effigy is framed by the inscriptions “CHARLES III,” “D.G. REX. F.D.,” “100 POUNDS” and “2022.” This rendition of Great Britain’s new monarch was created by award-winning British sculptor Martin Jennings.
Reverse: The reverse is graced with a stunning memorial portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The right facing effigy is partially surrounded by a wreath comprised of branches of laurel and rose blossoms secured with a ribbon at the base. The elegant design is credited to acclaimed British sculptor John Bergdahl in collaboration with The Royal Mint. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH REGINA” and her dates of life “1926-2022.”
