Description
Why purchase this superbly graded 9-Piece Proof Set of 2001-2010 West Point Mint American Silver Eagle coins?
The U.S. Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle series in 1986. This exciting Silver Eagle set includes the first nine proof releases of the series to be produced by the West Point Mint, which were issued from 2001-2010. Due to unusually high demand for silver bullion products in 2009, the proof variety was not issued that year.
- The nine American Silver Eagle coins in this set each contain 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
- Each coin was struck at the Mint’s West Point branch.
- Each 40.60 mm diameter coin carries a U.S. legal tender value of one dollar.
- Each silver dollar features a beautiful proof finish.
Exquisitely Detailed Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: The obverse features a rendition of Lady Liberty walking towards the rising sun, while draped in the distinctive flag of the United States. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the issue date. This personification of Liberty is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by Adolph A. Weinman, an acclaimed early 20th century architectural and medallic sculptor.
Reverse: The reverse illustrates a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, accompanied by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the West Point Mint’s “W” Mint mark. This image, which showcases the artistry of retired 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, is the identifying element of the Type-1 Silver Eagle issued from 1986 until mid-2021.
Virtually Flawless Proof 69 Ultra Cameo Set

Each 1 oz. silver proof coin is encased in a sonically sealed in a single coin protective holder with a NGC certification label.
