  • The bullion coin measures 40.60 mm in diameter.
  • The coin is legal tender of the United States, with a face value of one dollar.
  • The silver dollar is perfectly graded.
  • Mintage of the 2017 Silver Eagle bullion release is reported to be 18,065,500 pieces.
  • The coin is certified as a product of the San Francisco Mint.

Time-Honored American Silver Eagle Design

Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed walking towards a new day’s sun on the obverse, while draped in a billowing American flag and carrying a bouquet of oak and laurel branches. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2017.” This allegorical representation of liberty is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar created by renowned early 20th-century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman.

Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle clutches an olive branch and a bundle of arrows beneath thirteen stars. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,”  and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Designed by 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, this patriotic heraldic eagle graphic is the identifying characteristic of the Type-1 style Silver Eagle, which was issued from 1986 until mid-2021.
