Description
Why make this exceptional 24 karat gold commemorative 8-piece set of 1928 Gold Certificates the next addition to your collection?
After the introduction of the Gold Standard in the U.S. in 1861, the U.S. Treasury began to issue Gold Certificates backed by gold coinage, a practice that continued until 1933 federal gold recall. The Series of 1928 Gold Certificates were issued in eight denominations, ranging in value from $10 to $10,000. This set includes eight commemorative notes replicating the designs of the 1928 certificates, each struck from 100 mg of .999 fine gold.
Exquisite Certificate Reproductions
The obverses feature portraits of important figures in American history: Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson, Ulysses Grant, Benjamin Franklin, William McKinley, Grover Cleveland, James Madison and Salmon P. Chase. The notes are altered from the original 1928 designs only by the addition of the inscription “100MG 24K GOLD” and the declaration that they are “NOT” legal tender.
Reverse imagery varies, depicting iconic government buildings and/or the certificate denominations, surrounded by ornately styled border designs.
