Exquisite Flora and Fauna Designs
Obverse: The South African coat of arms graces the obverse of each of these coins. A crowned eagle stands upon a shield. Joining the arms are inscriptions in English and Afrikaans, as well as the date, “2021.”
Reverse: The coins in this set can be divided into two groups. The fractional coins feature some of the flowers of South Africa. The arum lily on the 10-cent coin, protea cynaroid flowers are on the 20 cent coin, and the crane flower is on the 50 cent piece. The Rand coins all bear animal designs, with the springbok on the 1 Rand coin, a kudu, which is another antelope, on the 2 Rand coin, and the gnu, or black wildebeest, on the 5 Rand piece.
