Striking Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman features on the obverse. Draped in the stars and stripes, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches as the sun emerges from beyond the horizon. Obverse inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “2024,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Adolph Weinman was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States. He went on to design some of the most famous coins in American history, including the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. Weinman’s initials also appear on the obverse of this coin.
Reverse: The reverse bears Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing design. The national bird carries an oak branch as it prepares to land with its wings spread. Along the rim are inscriptions of the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” while the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is included on the right. Emily Damstra earned an MFA in science illustration from the University of Michigan. She works as a science illustrator.
