This 5 Goldback note is made from a material called Aurum®, which is created through a remarkable state-of-the-art process, in which vaporized gold in precise amounts is layered between sheets of durable polyester. The resulting note is not subject to inflation, due to the physical gold contained within.

Stunning Female Personification of Wisdom
Obverse: On the obverse, the virtue of wisdom is portrayed as Sophia, a young woman inspired by the Goddess Athena. Posed as a warrior with an owl of wisdom at her side, Sophia holds a pickaxe, shield and spear, while wearing a crested helmet and a gown draped with a sash bearing the name “SOPHIA.” She is surrounded by a collage of elements which allude to the history of wisdom demonstrated by the state of Nevada, including distinctive buildings from the university campuses of Las Vegas and Nevada, a wagon wheel, a silver mine car and a locomotive. The caption to the scene is elegantly scripted below as “LET WISDOM RULE.” Inscriptions include “5 NEVADA GOLDBACKS” and “1/200 TROY OUNCE 24K GOLD.”
Reverse: On the reverse, a mirror image of the obverse Sophia design is clearly visible as a delicately frosted image in natural gold. The fascinating effect is a result of Aurum’s innovative method of production.
