Striking Pipe Organ Design by Thomas Pesendorfer
Obverse: Both faces of this coin bear designs that were created by Thomas Pesendorfer. The obverse bears the pipe organ of the Musikverein, the home of the Vienna Philharmonic. The name of the issuing country, “REPUBLIK OSTERREICH,” arches over the instrument. Below are inscriptions of the coin’s weight and purity, “1/10 UNZE GOLD 999.9,” date, “2024,” and face value, “10 EURO.”
Reverse: The reverse design centers on a cello. Other inscriptions in the design include a Vienna horn, a harp, a bassoon, and four violins. The name of the celebrated body, “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER,” spreads throughout the top half of the rim. Thomas Pesendorfer, now retired, is an award-winning designer who worked at the Austrian Mint.
