Obverse: On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted stepping forward while grasping an olive branch of peace and a blazing torch of enlightenment. Fifty stars encircle the image while radiant stylized sunlight fills the background. The image is borrowed from the 1907 Gold Double Eagle coin designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “2024” and the “ASG” monogram of the artist.
Reverse: The reverse features an astoundingly lifelike eagle portrait. Inscriptions include “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “50 DOLLARS” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD.” This eagle rendition was created by U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Jennie Norris and is the principal identifying characteristic of the Type-2 variety Gold Eagle.
