Breathtaking American Gold Eagle Imagery
Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed on the obverse while walking forward at daybreak, as she carries an olive branch symbolizing peace, and a flaming torch which is emblematic of freedom and enlightenment. Fifty stars, one for each state in the union, encircles the powerful image. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “2024” and the artist’s “ASG” monogram. The symbolic design, which is the result of a collaboration between acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and President Theodore Roosevelt, was originally created for the 1907 Gold Double Eagle.
Reverse: A left facing eagle portrait is centered on the reverse, surrounded by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “25 DOLLARS,” and “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The handsome Type-2 rendition of the U.S. national bird is professional graphic designer Jennie Norris’ first design for the U.S. Mint as an Artistic Infusion Program artist.
