Handsomely Rendered Gold Eagle Design
Obverse: On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted marching forward while clutching an olive branch of peace and a flaming torch of enlightenment as the rays of a dawning sun radiate above the U.S. Capitol Building in the background. Fifty stars, representing each state of the nation, surround the image. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “2024,” and the artist’s monogram “ASG.” This timeless personification of Liberty is borrowed from the 1907 Gold Double Eagle designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
Reverse: The reverse is adorned with an exquisitely detailed eagle, with its intense gaze focused to the left. The U.S. national bird is accompanied by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “25 DOLLARS,” and “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The Type-2 eagle portrait is the first realized U.S. coin design by Jennie Norris since her admission to the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program in 2019.
