Astoundingly Detailed American Gold Eagle Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse, encircled by fifty stars, as she steps forward with a flaming torch of enlightenment and an olive branch of peace in her grasp. The image, which also includes rays of sunlight over the dome of the U.S. Capitol Building, first appeared on the 1907 Gold Double Eagle coin designed by acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “2024,” and the artist’s “ASG” monogram.
Reverse: The reverse features a left-facing bald eagle portrait. The handsome bird is surrounded by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “10 DOLLARS,” and “1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The Type-2 eagle portrait is the first realized coin design by graphic designer Jennie Norris since her 2019 appointment to the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program.
