Featuring the Patriotic Eagle Landing Design of Emily Damstra
Obverse: The coin’s obverse bears the famous Walking Liberty design that first appeared on Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The early morning sun shines on Liberty as she, draped in the American flag, carries laurel and oak branches. Her name, “LIBERTY,” joins the date, “2024,” artist initials, “AW,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman designed two of the most famous coins in American history, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing reverse design features the national bird, a bald eagle, gliding downward with its wings spread as it prepares to land with an oak branch in tow. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions, which read, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Also included on the reverse is the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Emily Damstra has designed dozens of coins for the U.S. Mint and Royal Canadian Mint. She holds an MFA from the University of Michigan.
