Striking Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse bears Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design. As the morning sun begins to rise, Liberty, donning a Phrygian cap and draped in the American flag, carries branches of laurel and oak. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed on this face, as are the date, “2024,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Adolph Weinman is most famous for designing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. His initials, “AW,” appear on this face of the coin.
Reverse: Gracing the reverse is Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing design. The national bird prepares to land with its wings spread and an oak branch in its talons. Inscriptions on the rim provide the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” while “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is included just inside those inscriptions. Emily Damstra has an MFA in science illustration from the University of Michigan. She has designed dozens of American and Canadian coins.
