Featuring Emily Damstra’s Patriotic Eagle Landing Design
Obverse: As always, the obverse features the historic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which first appeared on the half dollar. The early morning sun shines on an American flag-draped Liberty as she carries laurel and oak branches. Obverse inscriptions note the central figure’s name, “LIBERTY,” the date, “2024,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Adolph Weinman immigrated to the United States from Germany and went on to become one of the most famous numismatic designers in American history. You’ll also find Weinman’s initials, “AW” on this side of the coin as well.
Reverse: The coin’s reverse design is the work of Emily Damstra. An eagle carries an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land with its wings spread. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” while the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is also included on this face. Emily Damstra is a science illustrator with an MFA from the University of Michigan. She has designed over 40 medals and coins for the United States and Canada.
