Classic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman

Obverse: Gracing the obverse is the historic Walking Liberty design, which Adolph Weinman created for the half dollar. Liberty walks confidently draped in the American flag carrying branches of laurel and oak. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed above, while the date, “2023,” artist initials, “AW,” and national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” are also included on this face. Adolph Weinman was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States. He is best known for designing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.

Reverse: Emily Damstra’s reverse design features an bad eagle carrying an oak branch. It is encircled by rim inscriptions that offer the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the face value of the coin, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” The second statutory motto, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” is included inside the rim inscriptions on the right. Emily Damstra earned her MFA at the University of Michigan. She focuses on zoological and botanical designs, as well as other imagery of the natural world.
