Adorable Mirrored Rabbit Design
Obverse: A right facing image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a jeweled tiara upon her head is centered on the obverse, surrounded by a braided border. The national badge of Tokelau, a traditional Tokelauan carved wooden “tackle box” known as a tuluma, is depicted below. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II TOKELAU 2023,” “1 OZ. 999 SILVER” and “FIVE DOLLARS.” This rendition of the monarch was created in 1998 by renowned British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley.
Reverse: The reverse illustrates a charming rabbit in an alert pose, which appears to be curiously observing a mirror image of itself across a vertical line. The rabbit hold in its mouth a sprig of jasmine, a flower considered to be lucky to the rabbit. The finish on each side is also a reflection, featuring a traditional proof finish on one side, and a reverse proof finish on the other. The inscription “YEAR OF THE RABBIT” curves above, with the date of issue “2023” below.
