Stunning U.S. Circulation Coinage Imagery
The set includes four U.S. coinage classics, a Kennedy half dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, and a Lincoln cent, along with a single year of issue design Native American Dollar. The annually changing dollar coin for 2023 is a tribute to a woman from the Osage Nation, Maria Tallchief. Ms. Tallchief is recognized as America’s first prima ballerina, whose grace and skill revolutionized ballet.
The American Women Quarters in the set feature imagery celebrating the achievements of Bessie Coleman (the first African American to earn an international pilot’s license and the first female Native American pilot), Edith Kanaka’ole (an indigenous Hawaiian composer who is noted for her efforts towards the preservation of Hawaiian lands and culture), First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (author and activist for civil liberties and human rights), Jovita Idar (Mexican American journalist, suffragist and advocate for bi-lingual education), and prima ballerina Maria Tallchief. The quarters each feature an obverse portrait of George Washington created by renowned early 20th-century female sculptor Laura Gardin Fraser. The design was originally recommended by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts for the 1932 Washington Quarter.
