Why order this 2023(P) $1 Silver Peace Dollar?
The U.S. Mint celebrated the end of the First World War in 1921 with the introduction of the Peace Dollar. The coin had a relatively brief run but is still among the favorite historic American coins among collectors both avid and causal. In 2021, the mint marked the 100th anniversary of the original Peace dollar with a modern issue. Now, in 2023, the U.S. Mint continues that celebration after not issuing the coin in 2022 due to a shortage of silver blanks.

Classic Liberty Design by Antonio de Francisci
Obverse: Antonio de Francisci designed both faces of the Peace Dollar. His obverse design features Liberty facing left with a radiate crown on her head. The allegorical figure splits an inscription of the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRVST.” Also inscribed on this face are the central figure’s name, “LIBERTY,” and the date, “2023.”
Reverse: The rays of the early morning sun spread out behind an eagle, which is perched on a rocky crag, on the reverse. The face value of the coin, “ONE DOLLAR,” is split by the bird. Additional reverse inscriptions provide the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the second statutory motto, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and the name of the coin, “PEACE.” Antonio de Francisci immigrated to the United States from Italy. The Peace Dollar is his best-known contribution to numismatics.
Flawless MS70 FR with Exclusive Peace Label
Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) provided the grading information for this coin on an exclusive label that bears an image of a Peace Dollar. NGC graded the coin Mint State 70 (MS 70), which means that the coin appears perfect under 5x magnification. The grading company also certified the coin First Releases (FR), thus indicating that it was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial release from the mint.
